Begin your Part 1 questions early and get a head start on your USMLE studies

Starting Early with Part 1

Do a Few Part 1 Questions Each Day Starting In January (or 4-5 months prior to your exam date)

  • If you begin studying at least 4 months prior to your exam date using the Part 1 questions, the recommended method for using the Part 1 Questions is to divide the total number of questions (340) by the number of days you plan to work the questions, creating an equal number for each day.
  • First, challenge yourself by attempting to answer the question on your own or writing out what you know about the topic. Then, refer to the resources suggested with the questions to locate the answers and annotate your comprehensive review book.
  • View the Part 1 video answers at the end of answering the questions on your own to further enhance your knowledge and hear the information again. Repetition greatly facilitates learning, and this method makes it much more enjoyable.
