Wolters Kluwer Health and Doctors In Training Team Up Again to Provide Superior USMLE STEP 1 Content

Philadelphia, PA. (October 18, 2013) – Doctors In Training and Wolters Kluwer Health have teamed up again to update Step-Up to USMLE Step 1 for medical students preparing for the USMLE Step 1 exam. Doctors In Training physician educators are actively involved in the editing of this forthcoming 2014 edition of Step-Up to USMLE Step 1.

Mike McInnis, MD, co-author of the book, said “Doctors In Training is very excited about the new edition of Step-Up to USMLE Step 1 and what it will offer to students in preparation for their Step 1 exam. This edition of Step-Up provides expanded coverage of biochemistry, genetics, and microbiology. These revisions include 2 new chapters on these subjects, complete with new illustrations and clinical photographs. We also further developed the Basic Concepts chapter, including updates to the medical ethics section and a new section on Deep Sea, High Altitude, and Aerospace Medicine.”

Doctors In Training’s USMLE Step 1 Review Course provides a structured, yet flexible approach to Step 1 preparation. The review course includes three components: the Primer Series, Part 1, and Part 2. The Primer Series, a series of videos focused on high-yield and difficult topics, along with Part 1of the course, which provides over 300 review questions and concise video answers, sets the stage for Part 2 of the course. Part 2 consists of approximately 65-75 hours of focused high-yield videos that incorporate active learning principles and build connections and relationships across the material to solidify the key concepts and ideas for students to succeed on Step 1. In addition, Part 2 includes a study guide that corresponds to the Part 2 videos containing study questions, notes, diagrams, study hints, and quizzes.

“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Doctors In Training for the newest edition of Step-Up to USMLE Step 1. The DIT physician educators have a great breadth and depth of knowledge regarding the medical subjects that are important for the Step 1 exam,” said Michael Tully, Publisher for Medical Education at Wolters Kluwer Health.

Step-Up to USMLE Step 1 is a comprehensive review text for the USMLE Step 1 exam. The book has been widely acclaimed for its high-yield, systems-based organization, which parallels the USMLE Step 1 content outline and helps students synthesize information from their basic science courses. The user-friendly format features charts, diagrams, and “quick hits” margin notes that help students integrate concepts across systems.
