The 2017 DIT Hoops Tournament Challenge (the “Game”) is sponsored by Doctors In Training.com, LLC, with offices at 1701 River Run, Ste 750, Fort Worth, TX 76107 (“DIT”). In the Game, users are invited to create a free tournament bracket in which they select the winners of the 63 games (excluding the "play-in games") comprising the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's College Basketball Tournament (collectively, the "2017 Tournament").  The Game is governed by these official rules (“Official Rules”). By participating in the Game, each entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, and understands that the results of the Game, as determined by DIT and its agents, are final in all respects.  The Game will utilize the 2017 CBSSports.com Bracket Manager platform provided by CBS Interactive, Inc.  In addition to these Official Rules, additional rules and guidelines regarding game play and scoring (which are fully incorporated into these Official Rules by reference to the extent applicable) are located on the Game page(s) of the 2017 CBSSports.com Bracket Manager platform (the "Game Instructions"). Entrants further agree to comply with and be bound by the 2017 CBSSports.com Terms of Use ( http://www.cbssports.com/info/about/tos/bm) (the “BMTOA”).  In the event of a conflict between these Official Rules and the Game Instructions or the BMTOA, these Official Rules will control. The Game is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.

ELIGIBILITY

The Game is open to medical students who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry, who are residents of the United States, who have Internet access and a valid e-mail account prior to the beginning of the Game. This promotion is void in overseas U.S. territories, possessions, commonwealths and military installations, and where prohibited by law. To participate in the Game, you must be a registered member of CBS Sports. Registration with CBSsports.com is free and is governed by all applicable terms and conditions set by CBS. Each entrant is solely responsible for complying with the terms and conditions applicable to his/her use of CBSsports.com. Employees, officers and directors of DIT, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, agents and suppliers, as well as members of their immediate families (defined as parents, spouses, children, siblings and grandparents) and individuals living in the same household as those individuals are not eligible to enter or win. DIT has the right to verify the eligibility of each entrant. By participating in the Game, entrants agree to comply with and be bound by these Official Rules. Failure to comply with these Official Rules may result in disqualification from the Game. Participation in the Game will be limited to a total of 500 entrants.

HOW TO ENTER

You may register by following these instructions: To enter the Game, follow this link to the CBSSports.com Bracket Manager 2017 page: http://dithoops.mayhem.cbssports.com/e and create an account. In order to complete your entry, you must return to the Promotion Website following the official announcement of the brackets for the 2017 Tournament, currently scheduled for Sunday March 12, 2017, to select your picks for the Game (your "Game Bracket"). In completing your Game Bracket, you will also be asked to guess what the final score of the championship game of the 2017 Tournament (the "Championship Game") will be (the "Tiebreaker Question"). The Tiebreaker Question will be used in the event there is a tie between two or more players at the conclusion of the Game. You may submit only one (1) Game Bracket. You have until just prior to the published tip-off time of the first 2017 Tournament game on Thursday, March 16, 2017 (the "Entry Deadline") to complete and/or make revisions to your Game Bracket. The exact Entry Deadline will be posted on the Promotion Website when it is officially announced.  All Entry Information, Game Bracket(s) and answer(s) to the Tiebreaker Question must be received by the Entry Deadline. A user who has submitted the foregoing materials in keeping with the deadlines described in these Official Rules, and who is otherwise in full compliance with the eligibility restrictions and all other provisions of these Official Rules, is referred to as an "entrant".

LIMIT OF ONE GAME BRACKET PER PERSON.  Only the first Game Bracket received from a particular individual will count; subsequent attempts to enter will be disqualified. Any attempt by any entrant to submit more than one Game Bracket and/or entry will void all of that entrant's entries. The submission of an entry is solely the responsibility of the entrant.  Entries may only be made according to the method described above. Only eligible entries actually received by DIT before the Entry Deadline will be considered for a prize in this Game. Unintelligible, incomplete or garbled entries will be disqualified. All entries become the property of DIT, and none will be acknowledged or returned.

Only the first Game Bracket received from a particular individual will count; subsequent attempts to enter will be disqualified. Any attempt by any entrant to submit more than one Game Bracket and/or entry will void all of that entrant's entries. The submission of an entry is solely the responsibility of the entrant. Entries may only be made according to the method described above. Only eligible entries actually received by DIT before the Entry Deadline will be considered for a prize in this Game. Unintelligible, incomplete or garbled entries will be disqualified. All entries become the property of DIT, and none will be acknowledged or returned.

PRIZES

Sixty-three (63) games are scheduled to be played in the 2017 Tournament (the "play-in" games are not counted for purposes of the Game). Twelve prizes are available following the conclusion of the 2017 Tournament (collectively, the "Prizes"), and will be awarded as follows:

  • One (1) Grand Prize – Free DIT Review Course. This prize will be awarded to the verified entrant who, on a single Game Bracket, receives the highest score using ESPN's Default Scoring formula.
  • One (1) Runner Up Prize – 50% discount of DIT Review Course . This prize will be awarded to the verified entrant who, on a single Game Bracket, receives the second highest score using the Bracket Manager Scoring formula.
  • Four “2nd Runner Up Prizes” – DIT swag bag. These prizes will be awarded to the verified entrants who, on a single Game Bracket, receive the next four highest scores (after the two highest scores) using the Bracket Manager Scoring formula.

Incidental expenses and all other costs and expenses which are not specifically listed as part of a prize in these Official Rules and which may be associated with the award, acceptance, receipt and use of all or any portion of the awarded prize are solely the responsibility of the respective prize winner. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZE ARE SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.

TIEBREAKERS

If more than one verified entrant has a Game Bracket with the highest score (using ESPN's Default Scoring formula) among the Game Brackets of all verified entrants participating in this Game, DIT will attempt to break the tie by using the following tiebreakers:

  1. An Entrant's predicted Tiebreaker Game Score is compared to the actual game score. The differences (absolute values only) between the predicted score and actual score for each team are added together into a combined total. The entry with the smallest total is considered the winning entry.
  2. The Entrant's predicted score for the winning team that is closest to the actual score of the winning team is considered the winning entry.
  3. Number of points scored in Championship Round.

In the event that the tie is still not broken after applying the tiebreakers above, the affected Prize will be awarded to winnersand each prize awarded will be payable according to the same time schedule as described below.

WINNER NOTIFICATION

Only listed prizes will be awarded, as applicable, and no substitutions, cash equivalents or redemptions will be made. DIT expressly disclaims any responsibility or liability for injury or loss to any person or property relating to the delivery and/or subsequent use of the prizes awarded. Restrictions, conditions, and limitations apply. DIT will not replace any lost or stolen prize items.
PLEASE NOTE THAT EVEN IF YOUR GAME BRACKET IS LISTED AS A POTENTIAL WINNER AT THE CLOSE OF THIS CONTEST, YOU HAVE NOT YET WON A PRIZE. POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY DIT, AND MUST MEET ALL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS BEFORE AN ENTRANT WILL BE CONFIRMED AS A WINNER OF ANY PARTICULAR PRIZE.

Potential winner(s) will be notified within ten days after the conclusion of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's College Basketball Tournament via email, U.S. mail, telephone and/or by overnight courier. Each Prize winner will be required to fully complete, sign, notarize and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release ("Affidavit/Release"), together with any additional information (such as social security number or resident alien identification number), that may be required by DIT. The information provided in potential winner's Affidavit/Release must be correct and mirror the information provided in winner's entry information or potential winner will be disqualified. Except where prohibited by law, potential winner must return all such required documents within fourteen days following attempted notification or prize may be forfeited. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim a prize or fails to return the properly completed and executed Affidavit/Release as required, or if the prize notification or prize is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited. No unclaimed prizes will be awarded. Each winner of a prize will be issued an IRS Form 1099 which documents the value of the prize for tax purposes. Any difference between actual value of a prize and the approximated value of a prize as stated in these Official Rules will not be awarded.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Prizes are non-transferable. No substitution or cash equivalent of prizes is permitted; however, DIT reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equal or greater value. Any attempt to damage the content or operation of this Game is unlawful and subject to possible legal action by DIT. In the event any tampering or unauthorized intervention may have occurred, DIT reserves the right to void suspect entries at issue. This Game is governed by the laws of the United States.

INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

BY ENTERING THE GAME, EACH ENTRANT AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS DIT AND ITS PARENT, AFFILIATE AND SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL AGENCIES, AND ALL THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS FROM ANY LIABILITY, DAMAGES, LOSSES OR INJURY RESULTING IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM THAT ENTRANT'S PARTICIPATION IN THE GAME AND THE ACCEPTANCE, USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PRIZE THAT MAY BE WON. DIT AND ITS PARENT, AFFILIATE AND SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES DO NOT MAKE ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO THE CONDITION, FITNESS OR MERCHANTABILITY OF THE PRIZE. DIT AND ITS PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL AGENCIES, AND ALL THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS DISCLAIM ANY LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE TO ANY COMPUTER SYSTEM RESULTING FROM ACCESS TO OR THE DOWNLOAD OF INFORMATION OR MATERIALS CONNECTED WITH THE GAME. DIT ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INCORRECT OR INACCURATE INFORMATION, WHETHER CAUSED BY WEBSITE USERS OR BY ANY OF THE EQUIPMENT OR PROGRAMMING ASSOCIATED WITH OR UTILIZED IN THE GAME, BY ANY TECHNICAL OR HUMAN ERROR WHICH MAY OCCUR IN THE PROCESSING OF SUBMISSIONS, DATA ENTERED BY CONTESTANTS, OR REGISTRATION IN THE GAME. DIT ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ERROR, OMISSION, INTERRUPTION, DELETION, DEFECT, DELAY IN OPERATION OR TRANSMISSION, FAILURES OR TECHNICAL MALFUNCTION OF ANY TELEPHONE NETWORK OR LINES, COMPUTER ONLINE SYSTEMS, SERVERS, PROVIDERS, COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE, EMAIL, PLAYERS, OR BROWSERS, WHETHER ON ACCOUNT OF TECHNICAL PROBLEMS, TRAFFIC CONGESTION ON THE INTERNET OR AT ANY WEBSITE, OR ON ACCOUNT OF ANY COMBINATION OF THE FOREGOING, THAT MAY OCCUR (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY SUCH PROBLEMS WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE ABILITY TO ACCESS THE PROMOTION WEBSITE OR TO PROCESS ANY TRANSACTION(S) IN CONNECTION WITH THE GAME). DIT ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INJURY OR DAMAGE TO PARTICIPANTS OR TO ANY COMPUTER RELATED TO OR RESULTING FROM PARTICIPATING OR DOWNLOADING MATERIALS IN THIS GAME. IF, FOR ANY REASON, THE GAME IS NOT CAPABLE OF RUNNING AS PLANNED, INCLUDING INFECTION BY COMPUTER VIRUS, BUGS, TAMPERING, HACKING, UNAUTHORIZED INTERVENTION, FRAUD, TECHNICAL FAILURES, OR ANY OTHER CAUSES BEYOND THE CONTROL OF DIT WHICH CORRUPT OR AFFECT THE ADMINISTRATION, SECURITY, FAIRNESS, INTEGRITY OR PROPER CONDUCT OF THE GAME, DIT RESERVES THE RIGHT AT ITS SOLE DISCRETION TO CANCEL, TERMINATE, MODIFY OR SUSPEND THE GAME, AND, IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, TO AWARD PRIZES ONLY WITHIN THAT PORTION OF THE ENTRANT POOL NOT AFFECTED BY THE DISRUPTION, IF ANY. IN ADDITION, SHOULD THE 2014 TOURNAMENT BE POSTPONED, SHORTENED, INTERRUPTED, MODIFIED, OR CANCELLED FOR ANY REASON, DIT RESERVES THE RIGHT AT ITS SOLE DISCRETION TO AWARD PRIZES AT THE TIME THE 2014 TOURNAMENT IS AFFECTED, OR TO CANCEL, TERMINATE, MODIFY, OR SUSPEND THE GAME.

PUBLICITY

By participating, each entrant grants DIT permission to use his/her name, likeness or comments for publicity purposes without payment of additional consideration, except where prohibited by law.

COPIES OF WINNERS LIST

Requests for copies of a winner’s list may be sent to Doctors In Training, Attn: “DIT Hoops Tournament Challenge, 1701 River Run, Ste. 750, Fort Worth, TX 76107. All requests must be received after April 28, 2017 and no later than July 13, 2017 and must include a stamped self-addressed envelope.
